A strict isolation imposed on an individual to prevent the spread of disease. To refrain from any contact with other individuals for a period of time (such as two weeks) during the outbreak of a contagious disease usually by remaining in one's home and limiting contact with family members.
病気の蔓延を防ぐために個人に課せられる厳格な隔離。通常は自宅に留まり、家族との接触も制限することにより、その他の人たちとの接触を伝染病の発生中一定期間（2週間など）控えること。
