説明
"Used to" talks about a habit or state in the past. It usually means this is not true now.
For example, "This street used to be very quiet." Here, "This street" is the subject. "Used to be" shows a past state, and "very quiet" tells us what the street was like before. In Japanese, people often say "昔は" or "前は" for this meaning. In questions and negatives, use "did" or "didn't": "Did you use to..." and "I didn't use to...". Do not add "d" after "did" in these forms.
"Used to" は、昔の習慣や状態を表します。たいてい「今はもうそうではない」という意味です。
たとえば、"This street used to be very quiet." では、"This street" が主語です。"Used to be" が「昔は〜だった」という状態を表し、"very quiet" がそのときの様子を説明しています。日本語では「昔は」や「前は」で自然に言えます。疑問文や否定文では "did" や "didn't" を使い、"Did you use to..."、"I didn't use to..." の形にします。"did" の後に "used" を入れないように注意してください。

よくある間違い
Japanese learners often write "I use to live in Osaka" or "Did you used to play tennis?" The correct forms are "I used to live in Osaka" and "Did you use to play tennis?" In negatives, say "I didn't use to like coffee," not "I didn't used to like coffee," though in actual speaking they sound practically the same!
日本語学習者はよく「I used to live in Osaka」や「Did you used to play tennis?」と書きますが、正しい形は「I used to live in Osaka」と「Did you use to play tennis?」です。否定文では「I didn't used to like coffee」と言い、「 I didn't used to like coffee」とは言いません。ただし、実際の会話ではほとんど同じように聞こえます。
