説明
Use a question word when you want specific information. Use "what", "where", "when", "who", or "why" at the start of the question. In English, the helper word usually comes before the subject. Look at "What do you want?" Here "what" asks for the thing, "do" makes the question, "you" is the subject, and "want" is the base verb. Japanese often says the same idea with a question word and the sentence can stay closer to statement order, but English changes the word order.
知りたい情報が一つあるときは、疑問詞を使います。"what"、"where"、"when"、"who"、"why" などを文の最初に置きます。英語では、助動詞が主語の前に来るのがふつうです。たとえば "What do you want?" では、"what" が「何」をたずね、"do" が質問の形を作り、"you" が主語、"want" が動詞の元の形です。日本語は「何がほしい?」のように語順をあまり変えませんが、英語は語順を変えます。

- What is your name? お名前は何ですか。

- Don't you have a pen? ペンを持っていないのですか。
よくある間違い
Japanese learners often keep statement word order in questions. For example, "What you want?" and "Where you live?" are wrong. Say "What do you want?" and "Where do you live?" In English, add the helper word and move it before the subject.
日本語話者は、疑問文でも平叙文の語順のままにしがちです。たとえば "What you want?" や "Where you live?" は誤りです。正しくは "What do you want?"、"Where do you live?" です。英語では、助動詞を入れて主語の前に置きます。
