go/walk/run + to/toward(s) + place

説明

Use "to" when you want to show the place you reach. Use "toward" or "towards" when you want to show the direction only.

For example, "She walked toward the park." Here, "She" is the subject, "walked" is the action, and "toward the park" shows the direction. It does not say that she arrived at the park. If she arrived, say "She walked to the park." Japanese often uses "〜へ" for both ideas, so English asks you to choose based on arrival.

例文

  • I walked to the bus stop.
  • She is running toward the park.
  • Are you going to the station?
  • The cat moved toward the door.
  • We drove to Osaka last weekend.
  • Don't walk toward the road.

Japanese learners often copy "〜へ" too directly and write "toward to".

Wrong: "I went toward to the station."

Right: "I went to the station."

If you only mean direction, say "I walked toward the station."
