I/you/he/she/it/we/they + verb

説明

Subject pronouns are words like "I", "you", "he", "she", "it", "we", and "they". They come before the verb and show who does the action or who has a state. In "I am hungry," "I" is the subject pronoun. It tells us who feels hungry, and "am hungry" tells the state. Japanese often leaves the subject out, but English usually says it. Use "it" for weather and things, as in "It is cold today."

例文

  • I am hungry. 私はお腹がすいています。
  • You are my teacher. あなたは私の先生です。
  • He has a bike. 彼は自転車を持っています。
  • It is cold today. 今日は寒いです。
  • We are not late. 私たちは遅れていません。
  • Are they at home? 彼らは家にいますか。

よくある間違い

Japanese learners often leave out the subject pronoun: "Am hungry." -> "I am hungry." They may also use "me" as the subject: "Me like coffee." -> "I like coffee." English usually needs the subject form before the verb.
