Explanation
Use "to + base verb" to say why you do something. It shows the purpose of the action.
For example, "I got up early to catch the train." In this sentence, "I got up early" is the main action, and "to catch the train" tells the reason. The word "to" comes before the verb "catch," and the verb stays in its base form. In Japanese, you often say "〜するために" or "〜しに," but English puts the purpose after "to."
「to + 動詞の原形」は、何のためにその行動をするかを言う形です。行動の目的を表します。
たとえば、"I got up early to catch the train." では、"I got up early" が主な行動で、"to catch the train" がその理由です。"to" の後には動詞 "catch" が来て、形は原形のままです。日本語では「〜するために」「〜しに」と言いますが、英語では目的を "to" の後ろに置きます。
